MCO Leadership Associates supports the implementation and application of leadership, management, and relationship skills by providing the following technical assistance services:

  • Strategic/School Improvement Planning – Members of the MCO team are skilled in the facilitation and development of strategic/school improvement plans. Having facilitated the development of over 150 strategic plans for schools, school districts, and non-profit organizations, MCO professionals have the capacity to provide a planning template and/or to customize training around an existing template within an organization.

    The model which has been most effective for MCO is to embed plan development within the teaching of comprehensive planning skills to leaders and/or teams. MCO is also equipped to support leaders as they implement their plans through the coaching process.


  • Effective Lesson Design – This program session utilizes the work of Marzano, McTighe, Wiggins, and Tomlinson to instruct principals and teachers in the identification and understanding of effective strategies for designing classroom instruction that aligns with state standards, creates authentic assessments, and incorporates engaging classroom instructional strategies. Participants will explore the concept of “backward design,” incorporating the framework of “beginning with the end in mind.” Alternate forms of assessment, including benchmarking, teacher-made assessments, and students assessing their own work, will be explored. Emphasis will be placed on incorporating research-based instructional strategies in classroom presentation in order to maximize student engagement. Principals will learn strategies for effectively monitoring the instructional program and giving directed feedback. The use of professional learning communities to support a culture for change and improvement will be examined.
